Description<\/strong>: This is two sharp-edge resin chonk d20s. The dice are made of colored resin with shiny holofoil inclusions inside. The font is similar to Futura but with a a couple of subtle differences. The numbers are carved out of the faces and inked in a bright white color. The 20 face is carved with a negative relief inside of a hexagon. The 6 and 9 faces use underbars to indicate their orientation as Uzi Jesus requires.\u00a0The dice came in the standard Honest Dice faux leather boxes with very firm foam inserts where the dice fit very snugly.

The Bard cleaned up, winning 6, losing 2 and tying 1 of the checks. Bardic Inspiration made the difference in 3 of the contests.

Final Thoughts:<\/strong> Dice from Honest Dice (formerly “Flying Horseduck”) keep showing up in reviews. There’s a good reason for that… They make really good dice. There are small handful of other companies that make nice sharp edge resin dice, some of those dice even have inclusions. Honest Dice are the top of my list in this category. They’ve always been fantastic dice in terms of quality, artisanship. visibility, and they come in at a reasonable price. If you pledge for them on Kickstarter or get a discount code as a kickstarter backer, they’re well priced. So far, each type of dice that they’ve thought to make have been fantastic.

Examples:
I’d been looking for Aluminum dice for some time and I had no luck finding either a full set, or a d20 chonk made of Aluminum that: 1) had clean edges\/vertices 2) were all one color and not splotchy\/swirly, 3) didn’t have a logo on the 20 face, 4) didn’t have a novelty (dragon\/elvin\/norse\/dwarven\/borderline illegible) font, and 5) didn’t cost a small fortune. Honest Dice delivered!

I’d been looking for Titanium dice with those same constraints, and for a hefty (but fair) price, Honest Dice delivered.

I’d been looking for chonk stone dice that didn’t have logos on the 20 face, and were made well. Again, Honest Dice sorts that out.

It’s easy to find good sharp-edge resin dice but Honest Dice makes very high quality dice and ticks all of the boxes. It’s as if the person in charge at Honest Dice (who is called: David) thinks to himself: “What style of dice should I improve upon this time?” and then delivers an “S-Tier” (as the kids call it) version of those dice.

On top of that, he came up with a different numbering pattern for the dice that he can demonstrate both mathematically and empirically to be better balanced than the historical standard method of dice numbering.

The colors on these two dice are gorgeous when the sun hits them. The smokiness in the orange d20 with the greenish-gold holofoil looks every bit as good as the maroon resin with the very slight hint of glitter and green\/blue holofoil in the other d20. They’re right in the sweet spot for me size-wise and they’re some of the easiest dice to read, even in a nerd’s dark basement gameroom, like the one where I play in my in-person game.

I catch myself just staring at these dice (and others from Honest Dice) from time to time when I have them sitting next to me. If money allowed, I’d love to buy one of everything that they made. I can’t wait to see what their next Kickstarter campaign comes up with.


**<\/strong>\u00a0I\u2019ve added a new value to the reviews called \u201cChi-square<\/strong>\u201d which is a calculation of the difference between of the number of times each value was rolled in the d20 roll test compared to the number of times each value would be rolled in a perfectly equal roll test. (perfectly equal means every value comes up the same number of times, or\u00a0[total number of rolls \/ number of sides on the die]<\/strong>) Chi-square gives a sense of how far away from the statistical average the results of the d20 roll test were. It\u2019s not a perfect measure of a die\u2019s balance and fairness but it\u2019s a good step in that direction.
