I already own one of these 60 sided Aluminum dice that’s numbered to be a d6 (that has the numbers 1-6 ten times over the 60 faces of the die) and it’s awesome. When I saw that these 60-sided d20s were on sale (they’re regularly $75) I bought one knowing how great they are.

I would love to eventually own a full set of 7 of these Aluminum 60 sided dice. Buying a full set of 7 of these Aluminum 60-sided dice that are each numbered to work as the 7 different dice in a standard set of TTRPG dice from the honestdice.com website is only $379. If I were buying them one at a time that would cost $525. Since I already own 2 of the 7 dice, it’d cost $375 more for me to buy the other 5 dice I need. Compare that with $379 for the full set of 7. If I did though, what would I do with the two 60-sided dice that I already have? There are so many things to consider as a dice goblin.

This die is an excellent size. It’s large for a chonk and with 60 sides, it’s quite spherical. This requires the die to have very small faces which means that it’s a little harder to read from further away than the length of your arm. Furthermore, when you roll it the die tends to wander and will often come to rest against the wall of your dice tray if you’re using one. I like this die so much that those two things don’t bother me a bit.

The die is carved by a CNC machine from a solid billet of Aluminum – the same 7075 Aluminum that was used for the excellent set of dice in post #108 “Fine Time.” This die feels very sturdy like a solid ball of Aluminum should. The surface of this die has the slightest bit of roughed up texture. It’s just a little bit more than the Aluminum dice in post #108. The numbers on this die were engraved (carved) where the other set of Aluminum dice had their numbers laser etched. Both methods that they used to number the dice look great. The font is very readable, and I was very happy that I was able to contact the person behind Flying Horseduck / Honest Dice to find out exactly what the font was. I feel like I’m not doing my job when I have to guess at fonts because there aren’t any good tools online for matching fonts when you only have numbers and image searching one or two digits at a time doesn’t work at all.

I have no complaints about this die. It’s a wonderful thing to own. It’s strange rolling a die that has each number on 3 different faces but the Chi-Square score was quite low compared to nearly every other set of dice I’ve tested since I started doing 100-roll tests. As I often say: If you want a really nice Aluminum chonk, this the best place I’ve found to get one. They’re pricey but they are ‘just lovely.

** Chi-square is a calculation used to test whether your data is as expected. The basic idea behind the test is to compare the observed values (the results of my 100 roll test) to the expected values. (what you would see if a d20 landed on each number with the exact same frequency) and compare the two to determine whether a die is balanced in this case.

This die is an oddity whose clean lines I quickly fell in love with.
