They’re a small online shop operating out of Syracuse, New York. They started out 3D printing D&D condition rings and now sell a lot of dice as well as other TTRPG accessories. I’ve bought probably 8-10 sets of dice from them, either from their website or through their Etsy shop. I’ve never had an issue with the buying process or with the quality of the dice I’ve received from Viridian.

Their dice prices are almost suspiciously low. Their sharp edge resin sets are cheaper than stalwarts like Dark Elf Dice, they have some real deals on chonk d20s and liquid core sets, and their stone sets are a good bit cheaper than Easy Roller Dice. This makes me wonder if Viridian’s dice are lower quality or if Viridian is just operating on thinner margins. As I said, I’ve had zero issues with the quality of the dice I’ve bought from Viridian so I’m going to guess that they’re selling the same dice from the same Chinese factories for a little bit cheaper than other online sellers. On top of this, Viridian also sells several LGBTQIA+ themed products which tells me that they’re part of the community and\/or allies. How is that for a few reasons why I’ll continue buying dice from them.

This lovely set of liquid center dice caught my eye mainly because of the nice watery blue resin paired with the deep magenta mica powder inside. The powder in the dice swirls around and sparkles as the dice come to a stop when you roll them and this effect looks just gorgeous. This is exactly the type of powder that should be inside of liquid center dice. Very fine and silty with some sparkle. I’d take sets of dice like these all day long in different colorways.

This set mostly uses the standard shapes with two small exceptions: First, the d10 \/ d% are a little bit stretched out but not too exaggerated. They’re just a tiny bit longer while thinner at the waists. Second, the d4 has it’s vertices shaved off \/ flattened. Maybe that’s to save someone’s feet if they happen to step on one of these d4s. I kind of like this look and it’s now possible to balance the d4 on one of its flattened vertices.

The font they use is decent. It’s a font that I see on several sets of Viridian dice. It’s kind of gothic with some very minor serifs. Nothing obnoxious or too safe. It’s easy enough to read so no complaints there. The liquid centers are nice and large for the size of the dice that they’re in as well. One thing I don’t like about liquid center dice is when they have small centers which increases the probability of the little liquid core being off-center inside the die. No one wants that.

So summing that up… Gorgeous blue and deep magenta color scheme. The gold ink used for the font actually pairs well with both the light blue and the deep magenta. The font is decent bordering on fancy. The mica powder in the center of the dice is perfect in every way, the shapes of the dice are even better than a basic set of sharp edge resin dice, and the 100 roll test indicates that the d20 is probably well balanced. These dice are an absolute steal for only $35.

These are my new favorite liquid center dice. They’re gorgeous but they don’t quite have the pop of a 10\/10 set like a few of the recently reviewed sets do. I’d give these a 9.5\/10 if I handed out half points in my review scale…. and oh how I wish I could get a chonk d20 in this style. Don’t sleep on these dice, or Viridian for that matter!

** Chi-square is a calculation used to test whether your data is as expected. The basic idea behind the test is to\u00a0compare the observed values (the results of my 100 roll test) to the expected values. (what you would see if a d20 landed on each number with the exact same frequency) and compare the two to determine whether a die is balanced in this case.
<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
I haven’t seen a better looking set of liquid center dice than these beauties Name: Magenta Reef liquid core dice set Description: This is a standard shape set of seven sharp edge translucent blue resin dice with liquid centers containing deep red \/ magenta mica powder.
