Hey look, another set of 7 sharp-edge resin dice. These are made with white opaque resin with semi-transparent deep aqua blue tinted resin strip in the middle. The font is the Easy Roller “Signature” font which is a serifed slightly flowy font inked in white. The 6 and 9 faces use underbars to indicate orientation (as all dice should). The d10s have edged waists and all edges \/ vertices are very sharp. The set is a fairly standard size for sharp edge resin.

The colorway is meant to have an blue frozen icy snow-covered feel to them.

Where did they come from:<\/strong> Easy Roller Dice

How much did they cost<\/strong>: $45 (Marked down from $60)

Material \/ color<\/strong>:  Resin. White with a semi-transparent aqua blue stripe and white numbers

Quality<\/strong>:  Decent, which is less than I expected from Easy Roller. There are a lot of blue spots in the white resin that look like sloppy work and take away from the overall look of the dice. They aren’t what I normally get from Easy Roller. They don’t seem to have the knack for resin dice yet. The polishing on the faces is good and has a nice gloss though.

Readability<\/strong>: Fair. I didn’t think the readability would be very good with white ink on white resin. Somehow they are more readable than they by all rights should be. They’re not good in low light (few sets are) but they’re not worthless either. The white ink is easy to see when there’s a little bit of the blue stripe on the side you’re looking at.

Value<\/strong>: Not good. If the quality was better (no sloppy blue mis-pour spots) and the font was a better color, these would be a good value.

Overall Rating<\/strong>: 6\/10<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4d6 drop 1 stat block<\/strong>: 12, 14, 17, 13, 14, 14 (84 total) A Methodical Tiefling Sorcerer from a complex bureaucratic society who is quick to take credit and assign blame.

That is a fantastic stat block total. That would border on questionable. If I was building a character, I’d shave 5 points off of those scores somewhere.

For reference: the Standard Array method totals to: 72 and Point Buy totals to: 69.

Final Thoughts:<\/strong> I really had higher hopes for these dice. I had never seen resin sets with this type of design before when I ordered these. I’d seen sets of metal dice like this and the sharp edge resin dice in post 003<\/a> (which I bought after buying this set) have a similar strip design in them, though Crystal Maggie’s Chinese factory did a much better job with those than Easy Roller did with these. Based on Easy Roller’s photos of a much cleaner set of these I really liked the way that they looked and the blue ice \/ white snow color theme that they had going. They feel light as many sets of sharp-edge resin dice do. Someone must have come up with a method to make sharp edge resin dice with either balanced metal inclusions or some kind of heavier resin, maybe infused with metal powder instead of mica powder to give them a little bit of heft. I need to find out if that’s a thing yet. That could be the best of both worlds.

I really wanted to like these dice but the sloppy pour and the font and ink color are really taking points away from these dice for me. A light blue font would make a difference for these dice, but as is, I don’t know if I’ll ever bring them to the table. The color scheme is unique and I almost never see (let alone buy) white resin dice, so maybe when I eventually play Daggerheart<\/a> (Open Beta is available now!) I’ll use the d12 from this set for one of the duality dice for the contrast it would provide.

The final thing I’ll complain about (that’s why you’re here, right? to read about me complaining) is the “Signature” font that Easy Roller uses. At best it’s just an okay font. I have several sets of metal dice from Easy Roller that are very plain metal dice that use this font and it’s decent on them but the serifs on the “4” and the way that the “8” doesn’t connect at it’s top arc \/ right shoulder area just bumps me. The tail of the “2” is on thin ice as well for being so jaunty. Fonts are such an easy thing for me to be annoyed with. I really should have looked deeper into this set before buying them.
