Gorgeous purple and green resin, golden holofoil made in some of the best shapes

Name: Phantasmal Fluorite 8 pc Crystal Set
Description: This is a set of eight sharp edge resin dice. They do not use all of the standard shapes. They use the same shapes as the set in post #097 “Walking on Broken Glass”. The d20 is in the only standard shape of the whole set. The d2 is a flat square tile shape. The d4 is in the “Crystal” shape, the d6 is in an elongated rhomboid shape that I’ve only seen before in the set in post #097. The d8 is in a triangular Crystal shape. The d10s are the standard shape but very elongated, and the d12 is a “Rhombic d12. The dice are a blend of purple and dark green resin with generous amounts of gold/yellow holofoil inside.
The font is a combination of a few different fonts. The number one is just a vertical line, like a lower-case letter L with no flag or base. This is rare in fonts but it exists in Gill Sans. The three with the flat top is seen in fonts like Rubik and Montserrat. The four is open similar to Garamond and Fira. The numbers all have very clean lines but it’s a mish-mash of typefaces. The 6 and 9 faces use underbars to indicate their orientation. The d10 and d% dice have sharp edged waists. All of the dice (even the d2) have very sharp vertices. The dice came in the standard Everything Dice beautifully illustrated box with protective foam inserts.

4d6 drop 1 stat block: 13, 14, 12, 10, 10, 16 (75 total) A Paranoid Dragonborn Bard from the Ruined Sea who has no concept of personal space
For reference: the Standard Array method totals to: 72 and the Point Buy method totals to: 69.
A 20th level College of Swords Bard with maxed CHA and WIS, and the Piercer feat facing a Vampire
The vampire acts first after initiative rolls:
Vampire: Charm attempt (Bard WIS save: 19 + 5 = 24 SUCCESS!)
Vampire: Bite attack: 11 + 9 = 20: HIT! 14 dmg
Bard: Breath weapon (Vampire DEX save: 11 + 9 = 20 SUCCESS) 9 fire dmg
Bard: Casts Sunburst (Vampire CON save:13 + 9 = 22 SUCCESS) 24 Radiant dmg
The Vampire is not blinded.
Vampire: Bite attack: 13 + 9 = 22 HIT! 16 dmg
Vampire: Charm attempt (Bard WIS save: 18 + 5 = 23 SUCCESS!)
Vampire: Legendary Action: Unarmed strike: 10 + 9 = 19 HIT! 16 dmg
Bard: Bonus Action: Bardic Inspiration (self)
Bard: Rapier attack: 6 + 9 + 12 = 27 HIT! 27 dmg reduced to 13 dmg
Bard: Casts Power Word Kill. Vampire has 84HP. The Vampire dies.
There is no saving throw for Power Word Kill so the Vampire’s Legendary Resistance didn’t help. It was just a matter of time before the Bard could end the fight. The Bard could have theoretically picked up the Meteor Swarm spell through Magical Secrets at 18th level for 40d6 damage over a large area. The bard has advantage against being charmed which was a very good thing.
Random Tables rolls:

Wild Magic Table: – 37 You smell like skunk until you are able to take a bath.

Final Thoughts: As soon as I saw Everything Dice post photos of this set on their Bluesky account, I knew that I wanted to buy them. Their main selling points were:
1) The shapes / size of the dice. I love the alternate d8 and d12 shapes as well as the very extended d10/d% dice.
2) The purple/green resin mixture they used. I’ll conceded that they did look a fair bit better in their marketing photos than my phone-camera photos with minimal touching up.
3) The holofoil inside the dice. Sharp edge resin dice with holofoil are still some of my all-time favorite style of dice. Everything Dice were not shy with the holofoil in this set. It’s bright and plentiful in each die.
I found a discount code to get 15% off from the nice guy who creates the D4 Deep Dives character builds / podcasts/videos. (Thanks Colby!). I love his podcast. I wish I could put together a character build even half as optimized as one of his. The guy really knows the rules like the back of his hand.
These dice have gorgeous resin and holofoil colors, very interesting shapes, including the flat tile d2 that I’ll never use. The font is a little bit small for some of the faces (d4, d6, and d12 most noticeably) but is otherwise very clean and readable. If I look up really close at the numbers in the photos above, I see a lot of little scratches or cracks (I’m not sure which) in the ink. It looks like the ink is just a little bit sloppy in general. Luckily this isn’t really noticeable without a magnifying glass / zoom lens. If you look closely at the photos above you can see the little black squiggles on a few of the numbers.
I’ve had very good luck with the dice I’ve bought from Everything Dice so far. These are a bit on the expensive side but they’re probably some of the best sharp-edge resin dice you can buy. I’d put them a step below some of the super-fancy boutique made-to-order resin dice from people like: Chorts Hoard and Allelenyan who each charge roughly double what this set cost. I’d say that these dice were a fair value for a great set of dice but they weren’t a bargain by any measure. I appreciate that Everything Dice are dropping new designs at the start of each season (every 3 months). The have some gorgeous hand-painted dice that run $150/set. I bought a set of them quite a while ago (post #046 Say Hello, Wave Goodbye) and absolutely love them though I rarely ever bring them to the table as I don’t want to damage them.
Getting back on topic, these dice are very pretty especially in good light where the holofoil has the opportunity to steal the show and catch your eye. I believe that this is the 3rd set of dice from Everything Dice made in this arrangement of shapes which I really like. That big chonky d8 and the rhombic d12 are just wonderful bits of geometry to bring to the table. I have one of the other two sets (Prismatic glass set) and the 3rd is a Critical Role collaboration set themed for Residuum (from the Vox Machina campaign) which aren’t my style as much as the two sets that I bought are. If I saw the Residuum set on sale for < $50 in the Critical Role online store I’d snatch them up in a second though.
Verdict: True dice goblins should definitely buy these dice. Have a look at the beach glass and Residuum sets as well though, they’re all quite nice and made to very high standards. If you’re willing to spend this much on a set of dice, you could do a lot worse than those three.
** Chi-square is a calculation used to test whether your data is as expected. The basic idea behind the test is to compare the observed values (the results of my 100 roll test) to the expected values. (what you would see if a d20 landed on each number with the exact same frequency) and compare the two results to determine whether a die is balanced in this case.
