Impulse buying as a dice goblin lands you some pretty mediocre metal dice sets

Name: Silver Metal 7 piece set – Red Embers

Description: This set of solid metal polyhedral dice features a blue-plated finish with orange flame shapes cut out of each face and a white font. The font is pretty basic and easy to read, very close to Futura. All edges and vertices are mildly sharp. The d10s have edged waists and the d4 is the standard 3-sided pyramid shape. Underbars are used for the 6 and 9 faces. They are available in 12 different color combinations.

Size:
d20: (Face->Face) 19.8 mm (Point->Point) 24.4 mm

Where did they come from: Easy Roller Dice

How much did they cost: $ 37 (I had a $10 off coupon)

Material / color: Blue plated metal (probably Zinc) with orange flame markings on them

Quality: Very good. Clean and simple

Readability: Great. Very good contrast and they passed the 8-feet-away test.

Value: Pretty good. These aren’t premium dice and I’ve paid less for better but they’re correctly priced.

Overall Rating: 7/10

Attempts needed to roll a natural 20: 66 rolls (Is that a new record?)

Fifty d20 rolls: 1, 20, 18, 16, 3, 18, 5, 13, 5, 5, 18, 10, 11, 16, 15, 20, 14, 3, 19, 10, 6, 20, 4, 2, 4, 20, 8, 19, 9, 9, 6, 3, 10, 13, 2, 1, 2, 4, 2, 19, 10, 9, 12, 3, 2, 12, 8, 18, 1, 4 (9.64 avg)

4d6 drop 1 stat block:15, 9, 14, 11, 15, 16 (80 total) A Delightful Tiefling Paladin from the dry lands who is afraid of sharp edges.

For reference: the Standard Array method totals to: 72 and the Point Buy method totals to: 69.

Casting Banishing Smite at 5th level after hitting with a long Sword:

The next time you hit a creature with a weapon attack before this spell ends, your weapon crackles with force, and the attack deals an extra 5d10 force damage to the target. Additionally, if this attack reduces the target to 50 hit points of fewer, you banish it. If the target is native to a different plane of existence than the one you’re on, the target disappears, returning to its home plane. If the target is native to the plane you’re on, the creature vanishes into a harmless demiplane. While there, the target is incapacitated. It remains there until the spell ends, at which point the target reappears in the space it left or in the nearest unoccupied space if that space is occupied.

A creature take 10 + 2 slashing damage and 27 force damage for a total of 39 damage

(This is another excuse for using random tables and rolling dice)

Random Tables rolls:

NPC Mannerisms: – 82: Collects small, flat rocks wherever they go.

Druidic Treasures: – 06: A Silver chain that can enthrall listeners when shaken.

(I’m getting these random tables at: https://d100tables.com by the way

Final Thoughts: I don’t have a lot to say about this set. They’re your basic run-of-the-mill metal dice set with dark faces and white numbers. I bought them because the orange/blue combination looked good together and they are very easy to read. They have a nice weight and they roll pretty well (the d20 wanders a tiny bit) Overall I’m happy with these dice but I don’t know how often I’d be using them in-game. This might be one of those sets that I bring out when I’m playing at home with my kids / their friends and someone needs to borrow a set. Maybe they’ll find their way into one of the raffles that the local game store holds regularly.

I don’t dislike these dice, I just don’t like them enough to put them in the regular rotation at my in-person game. This happens sometimes when you’re a dice goblin and the “buy now” impulse is strong. These dice would make a great starter set for a new player.
