Nothing to see here. It’s just a lovely flower. It’s definitely not a Mimic

Name: Flower Mimic Chonk d20 & Blind bag Pathfinder d20 (Neither die had a name)
Descriptions:
Flower Mimic d20: A larger (Chonk) clear resin d20 with a redish violet flower under the half of the die that has the 20 face and a red mouth with a set of teeth (That look like those of a Great White shark) and a purple tongue on the half of the die with the 1 face. It’s the old Flower/Mimic chonk d20 combo. The font is a combination of maybe Pirata and Lordish with high flags on the ‘6’, a curve in the stem of the ‘7’ & ‘2’, and a closed ‘4’. The numbers are inked in gold which looks nice against the red inclusions. There are a few faces where the gold gets a little bit lost when the white teeth are underneath but it’s minimal. The font may sound familiar but only because it’s the same font as post: 016 – Fancy. It’s the same font because the same person (In Kazakhstan made this d20). She’s incredibly good dice maker. There are dots on the 6 and 9 faces indicating orientation.
Anyway, the whole flower/mimic theme is a design as old as time. I think Gygax and Arneson each had a few of these when they were coming up with the game that would later become Dungeons & Dragons.
Pathfinder Metal d20: A metal d20 with steel blue enamel faces and black painted edges. The font is a jaunty TNR look-alike that I believe is italicized, using raised black numbers to match the edges. The 6 and 9 faces use underbars to indicate orientation and the 20 face has a small icon of a light blue Goblin’s head bearing it’s teeth in profile.

Chonk flower/mimic d20: (Face->Face) 31.6mm (Point->Point) 39.2mm

Chonk flower/mimic d20: Clear resin with a red flower and a red/white/purple Mimic mount
Metal Pathfinder d20: Metal (Zinc I’d guess) with steel blue enamel paint
Quality:
Chonk flower/mimic d20: Incredible, fantastic
Metal Pathfinder d20: Very good and clean… surprisingly
Readability:
Chonk flower/mimic d20: Surprisingly good from 8′ away on the carpet
Metal Pathfinder d20: Very good. I didn’t think black-on-blue would do this well
Value:
Chonk flower/mimic d20: It’s a really, really nice d20 but not worth the price ultimately. I don’t know what d20 would be worth that much. Tungsten maybe? Probably not even that.
Metal Pathfinder d20: Good value for a nice d20 with a matching pin

Random Tables rolls:
Chonk flower/mimic d20:
Aerial Encounters: 6 – A long piece of rope, which seems to be dangling from a hole in thin air.
Dark Villains of Dungeon Crawl Classics: 4 – The Corrupted Lord of the Tower – A once noble paladin, corrupted by powerful dark magic and driven mad. He now resides in a cursed tower atop a rocky cliffside, where he calls forth hordes of undead and other monstrous servants to do his bidding. Possessing great strength and skill with weapons, he lures unsuspecting adventurers into his domain with promises of riches and glory only to trap them in an agonizing death.
Metal Pathfinder d20:
Shields: 20 – The Buckle Buckler This buckler shield is crafted by only the finest materials. It is truly exquisite. And it is also petite for a buckler shield, though this shield has 3 more uses besides defence. First, it can be used as a fancy belt buckle. But havent you ever wanted to just play some ultimate frisbee in the middle of a heated battle? If so, then youre in luck because you can make a persuasion check with another intelligent creature mid battle. If successful both you and the other creature spend the next turn frolicking and playing frisbee together (1/day). It also may be turned over and used as a plate to place tea on.
Lingering Injury – Piercing: 16 – Festering Wound. Your hit point maximum is reduced by 1 every 24 hours the wound persists. If your hit point maximum drops to 0, you die. The wound heals if you receive any magical healing. Alternatively, someone can tend to the wound and make a DC 15 Wisdom (Medicine) check once every 24 hours. After ten successes, the wound heals
(I’m getting these random tables at: https://d100tables.com by the way)

Final Thoughts: I follow Allelenyan on “the socials” so I see some of the behind-the-scenes content of her dice making business. I love just about all of the dice that she produces. She’s probably my favorite fancy-schmancy dice maker. Her dice are nearly break-the-bank expensive and they’re shipped from Kazakhstan which adds it’s own challenges: Shipping cost, unreliable post office hours for her to ship them, and I have to pick up the package at the local post office every time instead of it being dropped off at my door. When she posts new designs that she’s making, I try to talk myself out of needing them. So far I’ve failed twice in a row… but how can I help myself… Look at that flower… and a Mimic on the other side??? That font! The clear clean flawless resin. The cost is what keeps me from buying any of the other 4 sets that she was offering during the last dice drop. The latest I’ve seen from her is that she’s increasing the size of her dice slightly, which will make them even better. Maybe the price will go up and I’ll be priced out like I am for the other amazing boutique dice maker that I’d love to buy from (Chorts Hoard). Anyway, this is a gorgeous d20 with a wonderful font and it’s a Mimic! Such detail went into the flower/mimic inside the die.
As for the Pathfinder d20, I was in the local game store recently and they had little “blind bags” with a random d20 and a matching pin. I do love to gamble on this sort of thing, so I bought one for myself and one for my youngest daughter (also a dice goblin). I like the color, the font, and the weight of it. The size (standard) is okay and it’s made well enough. The only drawback is that it uses a picture for the 20 face. I’ve rambled on about this before but to reiterate, I want to see the number ’20’ come up when I roll a natural 20. Sure the little icon is cute and it matches the pin that came with it but I still want the number 20 to appear on the die. I love it that Pathfinder decided to release blind bags. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Pathfinder / Paizo dice. If there are any more of these left next time I go back to the game store in town I’ll pick another one up.
